8,851,996 ESALs on the Track as of 2300 hours on September 14, 2017 (89% of the 10,000,000 ESAL goal).  Rut depths, roughness, and macrotexture are measured every week.  Detailed construction and performance information for each section can be reviewed by clicking the links shown near the top of this page.  The web interface is an ongoing effort.  Please check back often!

Construction data for each section can be viewed by positioning your mouse over the section in question and left-clicking.  Be sure and page-down to see all the data for multi-layered and/or multi-part sections.  The entire buildup is shown in structural sections, but only the upper (research) mixes are shown in sections with perpetual foundations.

2012 Track with Lee Road 159

Reconstruction of the 2015 experiment was completed in September of 2015 by East Alabama Paving, who was selected as the contractor via a competitive bidding process.  The sixth research cycle again consists of extended traffic sections, new mix performance sections, instrumented structural sections, and pavement preservation (on the Track, on Lee Road 159, and on US-280).  The new (2015) instrumented structural sections are part of a larger, multi-state validation effort to identify laboratory tests that predict surface cracking in the field.  Another 10 million ESALs is planned to be completed by the fall of 2017.
